Find Your Muse: St. Simons Island Through an Artist's Eye

Lucky me, I'm here on Saint Simons right now, a place I've called my creative sanctuary my entire life.  I've been coming here since I was a child, and the ever-changing colors and light are simply breathtaking. This island has profoundly inspired me throughout my life—to draw, to paint, to sit, to read, and to learn. It’s a place where you can feel the creative current. And let me tell you, it's one of the most truly fascinating and visually inspiring destinations you could ever dream of. I could string together countless captivating facts that make it undeniably unique—unlike any other beach, unlike any other island.

One of its most intriguing secrets, and a constant source of artistic wonder, is our dramatic tide differential. Most places on the East Coast, until you hit Maine, feature a subtle one to two-foot shift. But here, we're often talking five feet or more! Why does that matter to an artist? Because our shoreline is never the same. It's a perpetually shifting canvas, an evolving discovery with every visit. Each time I step onto the sand, it's an adventure in what new textures, patterns, and compositions the ocean has revealed, and that mystery remains utterly enchanting.

This summer, our inspiration flows directly from the heart of St. Simon's beaches and are  thrilled to highlight sara's painting that beautifully captures the essence of our serene beaches and vibrant flora.
